Objectives

• To undertake activities for the conservation of the states (Odisha) biodiversity, major ecosystems & critical landscapes
• To motivate and aware the people to participate in the conservation of nature & wildlife
• To conduct survey, studies, research and undertake Census of the wildlife & other living animals.
• To prevent & control the unauthorized encroachment of forests and disturbance the living wildlife
• To undertake Rehabilitation / Relocation Action plan for the Displaced / Affected people under forests/sanctuaries/National Parks/Tiger reserves/Biosphere reserves/Heritage sites etc.
• To conserve & improve the Biological diversity for sustainable development
• To work for the conservation of tiger reserves, forests, mangroves, coastal ecology, water, preservation of natural resources through the local people & governments.
• To educate people about the ecological significance of conserving the elephants & to revive the historical reverence & compassion for elephants
• To take concrete measures to protect the elephant, Tiger & other endangered wildlife species from poaching & other threats.
• To undertake action programme for the protection of forests and create new forests as regards to the sustainable Environment.
• To work actively for the protection of environment & natural heritage sites of Odisha
• To promote environmental governance through legislation, policy & advocacy along with ensuring that environmental principles are integrated into development planning policy & practices.
• To undertake printing of news bulletins and information documents for the mass awareness and generating peoples knowledge on Nature, Environment & Wildlife Management.
• To coordinate with the concerned Dept. /Stakeholders to ensure their support and better management of the wildlife, nature and Environment
• To take up different strategies to disseminate the information & inform them on the existing rules and regulations related to the participation of the people to conserve the soil, water, forests, wildlife and ensure their alternative livelihood.
• To promote value based Environmental Education, especially for the younger generation.
• To exchange & sharing of knowledge, information, & experiences with other agencies in State, National & International level on environment, wildlife and nature.
• To corporate in the task of conserving nature through common activities and other relevant action, including information exchange and consultations
• To implement the applicable International legal provision for the conservation of nature and the protection of the Environment
• To protect the human Health Conditions and improvement of the quality of life
• To improve of the living and working environment of the poor in urban slums and Rural Areas, through eradicating poverty, inter alias, by implementing integrated rural and urban development programme, as well as taking other appropriate measures at all levels necessary to stem the degradation of the environment.
• To create awareness, conduct study, research & training for the protection & promotion of public interest, environmental justice with a focus on Odisha.
• To help victims of pollution & environmental degradation to seek & obtain social environmental justice
• To implement community oriented research & training programme in the area of public interest & sustainable development.
• To set up information, resource, traditional knowledge & environmental law & justice centre.
• To work for good services in health, education, environment, food security & population control.
• To work towards reduction in the sources and impacts of climate change.
• To work for Minimizing pollution, reducing the use of toxic chemicals, heavy metals, electronic gadgets & ensuring improved management of toxic wastes, heavy metals wastes & electronic wastes.
• Undertake activities to create massive human resources for their involvement on the aforesaid issues.
